Director of Kids 4 Jesus Childcare Ministry
Kids 4 Jesus Childcare | Community Covenant Church
Omaha, Nebraska
Full-Time | Salaried Leadership Position
This Isn't Just Another Childcare Director Position
Kids 4 Jesus Childcare is a ministry of Community Covenant Church.
We believe a childcare center can be more than a place where children spend their day. It can be a place where children are known, loved, safe, and encouraged to grow. It can be a community where families experience genuine care, employees are developed and valued, and everyday relationships become opportunities to demonstrate the love of Jesus.
Community Covenant Church exists to love God, love people, and make disciples. Kids 4 Jesus extends that mission into the lives of children, families, staff, and our surrounding community.
We are seeking a leader who is excited by that opportunity.
About the Role
The Director of Kids 4 Jesus Childcare Ministry is entrusted with the spiritual, relational, organizational, and operational leadership of our full-time childcare ministry.
This individual will lead the day-to-day operation of the child care center while also helping K4J more fully live into its identity as an intentional ministry of Community Covenant Church.
The Director oversees staff leadership and development, enrollment, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, program quality, family relationships, and organizational systems. Just as importantly, the Director builds relationships, develops leaders, strengthens culture, and consistently looks for opportunities to help children, families, and employees take meaningful next steps toward Jesus.
We are not simply looking for someone who can maintain a childcare center.
We are looking for someone who can lead a healthy, growing, Christ-centered ministry.
The Leader We're Looking For
Our ideal Director is a spiritually mature, relational, innovative, and solution-oriented leader who sees both people and systems.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have a growing personal relationship with Jesus and naturally lead from your faith.
- Love developing people and building healthy teams.
- Take ownership of problems and follow responsibilities through completion.
- Can move between big-picture vision and important operational details.
- Communicate directly, clearly, and compassionately.
- See families as people to know and care for rather than simply customers.
- Understand how staffing, enrollment, finances, culture, and program quality affect one another.
- Anticipate needs and develop solutions before challenges become emergencies.
- Enjoy creating effective systems and bringing consistency to complex environments.
- Are comfortable making decisions, having difficult conversations, and holding others accountable.
- See incredible ministry potential in the daily relationships created through a childcare center.
What You'll Lead
Ministry and Church Integration
Lead K4J as an intentional extension of Community Covenant Church's mission to love God, love people, and make disciples.
Develop natural and meaningful ways for children, families, and staff to experience the love of Jesus, receive care, and become connected with appropriate ministry opportunities.
Collaborate with CCC pastors and ministry leaders to strengthen family engagement, pastoral care, discipleship, community outreach, and shared ministry opportunities.
Build meaningful relationships within the broader life of Community Covenant Church and help strengthen the connection between CCC and K4J.
Staff and Organizational Leadership
Recruit, hire, develop, coach, evaluate, and retain a healthy team of qualified childcare professionals.
Create a staff culture characterized by direct communication, mutual respect, encouragement, personal responsibility, and teamwork.
Develop leaders, delegate effectively, establish clear expectations, and address performance or relational concerns promptly and appropriately.
Build strong systems and leadership structures that allow the center to operate effectively without unnecessary dependence on the Director or Lead Pastor for routine decisions.
Childcare Program Excellence
Ensure K4J provides exceptional, Christ-centered early childhood care in a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Lead the consistent implementation of curriculum, classroom expectations, and program practices throughout the center.
Ensure biblical truth and the love of Jesus are naturally and age-appropriately integrated into the daily rhythms of K4J.
Continually evaluate program quality and lead meaningful improvement.
Family and Community Relationships
Serve as a primary relational leader for K4J families.
Cultivate trust and ensure families experience K4J as a place where their children are known, loved, safe, and intentionally cared for.
Lead prospective family tours and follow-up, respond appropriately to parent concerns, and promote healthy, direct communication between families and staff.
Recognize significant celebrations, hardships, and care needs within the K4J community and connect families with appropriate pastoral or ministry support.
Enrollment and Financial Stewardship
Proactively monitor enrollment, classroom capacity, staffing needs, and anticipated child transitions.
Develop strategies that support healthy enrollment and long-term ministry sustainability.
Develop and manage the annual K4J budget in collaboration with church leadership.
Monitor revenue, staffing costs, expenses, and financial performance and respond proactively to significant concerns.
Steward the people and financial resources of K4J with integrity, wisdom, and a commitment to the broader mission of Community Covenant Church.
Licensing, Safety, and Compliance
Maintain thorough knowledge of applicable Nebraska child care licensing requirements and ensure consistent center-wide compliance.
Ensure appropriate staffing ratios, supervision, documentation, training, safety practices, and regulatory standards are maintained.
Lead K4J with an ongoing posture of inspection readiness, risk awareness, and continuous improvement.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is about more than a full center or a balanced budget.
We believe a healthy K4J ministry is one where:
Children are known, loved, safe, and growing.
Families experience exceptional care and meaningful relationships.
Staff are valued, developed, equipped, and accountable.
The center operates with excellence, healthy systems, and financial responsibility.
Kids 4 Jesus increasingly serves as an integrated expression of Community Covenant Church's mission to love God, love people, and make disciples.

- Successfully complete all required background checks and employment screening.
- Maintain required First Aid and CPR certification.
- Have at least three years of relevant early childhood, childcare leadership, organizational leadership, or management experience.
- Demonstrate experience leading employees, organizing complex responsibilities, communicating with families or customers, and addressing challenging personnel or performance situations.
A bachelor's degree in early childhood education, education, child or youth development, organizational leadership, ministry, business administration, or a related field is preferred but not required for an otherwise qualified and licensable candidate.
Previous experience as a childcare center director, assistant director, senior early childhood leader, or leader within a church or faith-based organization is preferred.
Position Schedule
This is a full-time, salaried leadership position.
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on center needs, staffing, training, ministry events, and leadership responsibilities.
The Director maintains meaningful leadership presence throughout the operating rhythms of K4J, including regular interaction with opening and closing staff, families, classrooms, and center leadership.
Occasional evening or weekend participation may be necessary for staff training, family activities, church collaboration, or ministry events.
Why Kids 4 Jesus?
Every day, children and families walk through our doors.
Every day, employees spend hours caring for and influencing children.
Every day, there are opportunities to listen, encourage, develop, serve, pray, celebrate, and care.
We believe those everyday moments matter.
If you are a leader who loves Jesus, develops people, builds healthy systems, takes ownership, and believes excellent childcare can be a meaningful expression of ministry, we would love to meet you.
