Where Life Begins - Week 5 Day 1

WEEK 5 // DAY 1
THE MISSION CONTINUES
Acts begins by reminding us that the story of Jesus did not end with the resurrection. Luke says his first book was about all that Jesus began to do and teach. That word matters. Jesus’ earthly ministry was not the completion of His work in the world, but the beginning of a mission that would continue through His Spirit-filled people. The risen Jesus is still alive, still reigning, still leading, and still inviting His followers to participate in what He is doing.
This is where Christian purpose begins. It does not begin with your ability to create a meaningful life. It does not begin with your personality, your platform, your career, your gifts, or your dreams. Your purpose begins with the living Jesus. Because He is alive, your life is caught up in something larger than yourself. You are not trying to make your life matter by becoming impressive. You are being invited into the mission of the One who has already defeated sin and death.
That is both freeing and clarifying. It is freeing because you do not have to invent your purpose from scratch. You do not have to carry the pressure of proving that your life is significant. Jesus is already at work, and by the Holy Spirit, He draws ordinary people into His ongoing mission. It is clarifying because purpose is not first about self-expression or personal success. It is about bearing witness to Jesus—who He is, what He has done, and the life He gives.
This matters in your daily life because most of your witness will happen in ordinary places. You may not feel like your routines are dramatic or spiritually significant, but the risen Jesus works through ordinary faithfulness. Your conversations, your generosity, your integrity, your hospitality, your compassion, your repentance, and your willingness to speak of Jesus can all become part of His ongoing work.
Today, remember that your life does not have to be impressive to be purposeful. The question is not, “How do I make myself matter?” The better question is, “Where is Jesus already at work, and how is the Spirit inviting me to participate?” Life begins with purpose because Jesus is alive, and His mission continues through Spirit-filled people like you.
Reflection Questions:
- What does Acts 1 say Jesus continued to speak about after His resurrection?
- Why does it matter that Jesus’ work is still continuing?
- Where do you feel pressure to create significance for yourself?
- How can you participate in the mission of Jesus today?
Journaling Prompt:
Take time to write about where you see Jesus already at work in your life, relationships, church, or community, and reflect on how the Spirit may be inviting you to join Him there.Prayer Starter: Jesus, thank You that You are alive and still at work. Holy Spirit, open my eyes to Your mission and help me participate faithfully where You have placed me.
