Where Life Begins - Week 3 Day 2

WEEK 3 // DAY 2

A NEW REALM

Paul speaks with clarity and confidence about your identity. He does not say that you are in the process of moving from one realm to another. He says that if the Spirit of God lives in you, then you are already there. You are no longer in the realm of the flesh—you are in the realm of the Spirit. This is not a future hope; it is a present reality.

The “flesh” represents life apart from God—self-directed, driven by natural desires, and ultimately disconnected from the source of life. The “Spirit” represents life with God—marked by His presence, shaped by His influence, and directed toward life and peace. When you place your trust in Jesus, the Holy Spirit brings you into that new reality. You are not just improved—you are relocated.

This is where many people struggle. You may still experience the pull of old patterns, the presence of temptation, or the weight of past habits. And because of that, it can feel like nothing has really changed. But Paul is clear: your experience does not redefine your identity. The Spirit has already transferred you into a new realm. You are learning to live in a reality that is already true.

This means your starting point has shifted. You are not trying to escape the flesh—you are learning to walk in the Spirit. You are not trying to become someone new—you already are someone new in Christ. The Spirit is not waiting for you to catch up; He is leading you forward.

As you begin to live from this identity, your perspective starts to change. You begin to see yourself differently, not defined by your past, but shaped by God’s presence within you.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does Paul say about your identity if the Spirit lives in you?
  • What is the difference between the “flesh” and the “Spirit”?
  • Where do you still think of yourself in terms of your old life?
  • What would it look like to live from your new identity today?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about the difference between your old identity and your new identity in Christ, and reflect on how the Spirit has changed your reality.
Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, help me see myself the way God sees me and remember that I am no longer defined by my old life. Lead me to live today from my new identity in Christ.
