Where Life Begins - Week 1 Day 2

WEEK 1 // DAY 2

GOD WITH YOU

Read John 14:15-27

There is a shift in this verse that is easy to miss but deeply important. Jesus tells His disciples that the Spirit lives with them—but then adds that He will be in them. That movement—from with to in—is one of the most significant developments in the entire story of Scripture.

Throughout the Old Testament, God’s presence was real, but often experienced externally. He led His people, spoke to them, and dwelt among them, but His presence was not yet internal in the way Jesus now describes. With the coming of the Spirit, that changes. God’s presence is no longer confined to a place or a moment. It becomes personal, immediate, and internal. The same God who created the world now chooses to dwell within His people.

This truth reshapes the way you understand your relationship with God. You are not trying to reach Him from a distance. You are not waiting for Him to show up in a specific place or moment. Through the Spirit, God has already drawn near—closer than you may realize. His presence is not something you have to earn or achieve. It is something you are invited to live within.

That means your daily life becomes the primary place of encounter. The Spirit is present in the ordinary: your conversations, your thoughts, your decisions, your quiet moments, and even your struggles. You are never navigating life alone, even when it feels that way. The question is not whether God is near, but whether you are attentive to His nearness.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does Jesus say about the Spirit’s relationship to believers?
  • Why is the shift from “with you” to “in you” significant?
  • How does this truth change the way you think about God’s nearness?
  • What is one way you can become more aware of the Spirit today?

Journaling Prompt:

Write about what it means for you personally that God is not just with you, but in you.
Prayer Starter: Ask the Holy Spirit to help you recognize His presence in your everyday life and respond to Him with trust.
