POSITIONED TO BRING HOPE

Esther’s position as queen appears to give her comfort and protection. She lives in the palace while Mordecai mourns outside the gate. She has access to the king that others do not have. Yet Mordecai challenges her to see that her position is not only a privilege. It carries responsibility. Perhaps God has placed her near this need so that His hope can flow through her.

Mordecai’s words are not meant to inflate Esther’s ego. “For such a time as this” does not mean that Esther is the hero of the story or that everything depends on her. Mordecai has already expressed confidence that God will bring deliverance. Esther is not the source of hope. God is. But she has been given an opportunity to participate in what God is doing.?

You may not live in a palace or hold an impressive title, but God has positioned you somewhere. You live near particular people. You work beside specific coworkers. You belong to a family, neighborhood, church, classroom, team, or circle of friends. You have relationships, experiences, and opportunities that someone else may not have. Sometimes we overlook our purpose because our influence feels ordinary. But Esther’s story reminds you that purpose often begins by paying attention to the people and needs already in front of you.

Perhaps you may be the friend who can ask the honest question. You may be the neighbor who can offer practical help. You may be the parent or grandparent who can pass faith to the next generation. You may be the coworker who can bring calm, integrity, or compassion into a tense situation. Your influence may appear small, but God can use ordinary faithfulness in timely moments.

Jesus used His position for the sake of others. Though He is the eternal Son of God, He did not cling to privilege or remain distant from our need. He humbled Himself, took on human flesh, served, suffered, and gave His life for us. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus brought us from alienation into God’s family. His greatness was revealed through sacrificial love.

Jesus used His power to save and serve you, so you can use your influence to bless others. You are not called to rescue everyone or carry every need, but to become a place where God works through you.
