WEEK 4 // DAY 5
LIFTED BY GRACE
Read James 4:1-10
James’ words of "grieve", "mourn", and "gloom" may sound heavy, but they’re filled with hope. He’s describing the kind of sorrow that leads to life — a repentance that opens the way for restoration. When you humble yourself before God, He doesn’t leave you low; He lifts you up. There’s a deep beauty in brokenness. When your heart grieves sin honestly, it becomes soft enough for God to shape again. Mourning here isn’t about despair; it’s about renewal. It’s the process of letting go of pride, of false joy, of anything that dulls your sensitivity to God’s holiness. And then comes the promise: He will lift you up. God Himself restores dignity, peace, and purpose. He exalts the humble because they depend on Him completely. This lifting isn’t about status; it’s about standing again in grace — washed, forgiven, made new. If you feel low today, take heart. The God who calls you to bow is the same God who promises to raise you up by His mercy.Reflection Questions:
